  • Tournament runs from 23 to 26 April at Royal Cape Golf Club
  • Co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and Sunshine Ladies Tour
  • Free public entry for spectators across all four days
  • Event offers international exposure and ranking opportunities

Cape Town is set to host one of South Africa’s most prestigious women’s golf tournaments as the Investec SA Women’s Open returns to the Royal Cape Golf Club this week.

First established in 1988 by the Women’s PGA of South Africa, the tournament has grown into a flagship event on the local sporting calendar. Over the years, it has played a significant role in elevating the profile of women’s golf in the country, providing a competitive platform for both established professionals and emerging talent.

The event is co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and the Sunshine Ladies Tour, a partnership that ensures a strong field of competitors from both local and international circuits. This dual sanctioning not only raises the competitive standard of the tournament but also offers players valuable ranking points and opportunities to progress onto larger global stages.

Royal Cape Golf Club, one of the oldest and most respected courses in South Africa, provides a fitting backdrop for the event. Known for its challenging layout and exposure to coastal wind conditions, the course demands a high level of precision and consistency, factors that often separate contenders from the rest of the field over four days of play.

The tournament has a rich history of South African success, with players such as Lee-Anne Pace and Ashleigh Buhai among those who have secured multiple titles. Their achievements have helped inspire a new generation of golfers, many of whom will be looking to make their mark in this year’s competition.

Spectators will have the opportunity to attend the event free of charge, offering accessible live sport to the public while creating a vibrant atmosphere around the course. Daily play is scheduled from early morning through to the late afternoon, allowing fans to follow the progression of the tournament across all four rounds.

Beyond the competition itself, the event continues to contribute to the broader development of women’s sport in South Africa, highlighting both the depth of talent and the growing support for the game at all levels,.
