Cape Town is set to host one of the continent’s biggest music events this weekend as Ultra South Africa returns for its 11th edition, bringing a global line-up and thousands of festivalgoers to the city.

The event will take place at The Ostrich on Sunday, with gates opening at 2pm and continuing into the early hours of Monday morning. With a public holiday following the event, organisers are expecting a strong turnout, as attendees take advantage of the extended weekend.

Ultra South Africa has established itself as Africa’s premier electronic music festival, drawing both international visitors and local fans with its large-scale production, immersive stage design, and high-energy performances.

This year’s line-up features a mix of globally recognised artists and local talent, including John Summit, Afrojack performing back to back with R3hab, DJ Snake, Axwell, Apashe, Dennis Ferrer, and South Africa’s own Shimza. The event will also include a broader supporting line-up across multiple stages, offering a range of electronic music styles.

Organisers say the festival continues to grow in both scale and reach, contributing significantly to Cape Town’s tourism and entertainment sectors. Events of this nature not only attract visitors but also support local businesses, including hospitality, transport, and event services.

With large crowds expected, attention has also been placed on safety, logistics, and crowd management to ensure a smooth experience for attendees.

The return of Ultra South Africa highlights Cape Town’s position as a leading destination for international events, combining global entertainment with the city’s unique setting. As the festival approaches, anticipation continues to build, with organisers aiming to deliver another high-impact edition that reflects the event’s global reputation. Credit:
