False Bay delivered one of the most commanding performances of the Super League A season so far, overpowering Van der Stel-Evergreens in a one-sided encounter in Stellenbosch. The result not only reflects the visitors’ strength but also signals their early intent in the competition.
From the opening whistle, False Bay established control, using structured play and sustained pressure to pin the hosts back in their own half. Their dominance was evident early on, with the scoreline steadily increasing as they capitalised on both possession and territory.
By halftime, the visitors had already built a commanding lead, leaving little doubt about the outcome. The second half followed a similar pattern, with False Bay maintaining their intensity and continuing to find space across the field.
The forwards played a key role in setting the platform, winning crucial battles in the scrums and lineouts. This allowed the backline to operate with freedom, resulting in a high-scoring display that saw the team cross the try line repeatedly.
In total, False Bay scored seventeen tries, converting the majority to reach a final score of 111-0. The performance showcased both attacking depth and tactical discipline, even as the opposition struggled to contain the pace of the game.
Despite the heavy defeat, Van der Stel-Evergreens showed resilience throughout the match. The team is currently navigating a rebuilding phase following a significant loss of players, and while results may take time to stabilise, the commitment on the field remained evident.
There was, however, a minor setback for False Bay, with a red card issued during the match. While it had little impact on the outcome, it may affect team selection in upcoming fixtures.
Looking ahead, False Bay will host UniMil in their next Super League A fixture in Constantia. While they enter the match as strong favourites, league rugby often presents different challenges, particularly as teams begin to find rhythm as the season progresses.
The result sends a clear message to the rest of the league, with False Bay positioning themselves as early contenders in this year’s competition.
