  • “Come Thru” R&B event set for Cabo Beach this weekend
  • Focus on 90s and early 2000s music nostalgia
  • Day-to-night format designed for wider audience appeal
  • Limited tickets available with strong early interest

Cape Town’s social calendar is set for a nostalgic throwback this weekend, as a new R&B experience at the V&A Waterfront promises to bring together music, memories, and a vibrant day-to-night atmosphere.

“Come Thru – A Millennial R&B Experience” is scheduled to take place at Cabo Beach, offering a curated celebration of 90s and early 2000s R&B music. The event is designed to tap into a growing demand for nostalgia-driven experiences, blending classic slow jams with upbeat sing-along tracks that defined an era.

Curated by Waggy the DJ, the event aims to create a balanced experience that starts during the day and transitions into an evening atmosphere, appealing to a broader audience that may not typically engage in late-night events. Organisers say the format allows attendees to enjoy the music and setting earlier in the day, while still building toward a full social experience as the evening progresses.

The event will also incorporate elements of classic hip hop, providing variety while maintaining a consistent musical theme. This combination is expected to attract a diverse crowd, from long-time fans of the genre to younger audiences discovering the music through contemporary trends.

Set against the backdrop of the V&A Waterfront, Cabo Beach has increasingly become a focal point for lifestyle events, offering a premium venue that blends ocean views with a relaxed yet high-energy atmosphere. The location plays a key role in positioning the event as both a social gathering and a destination experience.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, 2 May, running from 14:00 through to midnight. Tickets are priced at R250 online and R300 at the door, with table bookings available for groups at a minimum spend. Organisers have confirmed that the event is restricted to individuals aged 23 and over, with limited ticket availability expected to drive early demand.

As Cape Town’s events scene continues to evolve, experiences like “Come Thru” reflect a broader trend toward curated, theme-driven gatherings that prioritise both music and atmosphere, offering audiences a more tailored and memorable social experience.
