  • Blue and Gold Army called on to back the team

For Cape Town City supporters, Sunday afternoon could deliver one of the most defining moments of the season. With promotion back to South African football’s top flight now within reach, the Citizens return to Athlone with everything still on the line, and very little room for error.

Cape Town City FC will step onto the pitch at Athlone Stadium this Sunday knowing that ninety minutes could make or break months of hard work, planning, and determination.

The Citizens host Johannesburg-based Gomora United in what has become a crucial penultimate home fixture in the club’s push for promotion back to the Betway Premiership.

After an intense campaign in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, Cape Town City now finds itself within touching distance of returning to the country’s top division.

But with the season entering its final stages, every point matters, and every missed opportunity could prove costly.

Club officials are now calling on the Blue and Gold Army to pack Athlone Stadium and create the kind of atmosphere that can inspire the team during one of its biggest matches of the year.

Supporters know what promotion would mean, not only for the club, but for football in the Mother City, with Cape Town once again aiming to secure strong representation at the highest level of South African football.

Kick-off is scheduled for three o’clock on Sunday afternoon, with players, staff, and supporters fully aware that victory could move the Citizens one giant step closer to reclaiming their place among the country’s elite.
