Cape Town’s growing mixed martial arts scene produced another explosive showdown at the Barebones MMA Championships after rising bantamweight prospect Ezra Solomon delivered a composed and technically sharp performance to secure victory against fellow striking specialist Altaaf Armien.

Cape Town’s amateur mixed martial arts circuit continues building momentum following another high-profile showcase at the recent Barebones MMA Championships, where two of the city’s rising striking prospects delivered one of the event’s most talked-about contests.

The bantamweight clash between Ezra Solomon and Altaaf Armien had already generated strong interest before the opening bell, largely because both fighters are known for their aggressive stand-up fighting styles and willingness to engage in high-pressure striking exchanges.

Rather than relying heavily on grappling or defensive tactics, both competitors entered the contest prepared for a technical striking battle that quickly developed into a fast-paced three-round encounter.

The matchup also carried additional significance because it marked another chapter in the fighters’ growing amateur rivalry within Cape Town’s expanding combat sports scene.

Observers at the event described the bout as one of the standout fights of the championship showcase, with spectators remaining locked into the action throughout the contest as both athletes exchanged combinations and maintained a relentless pace.

Armien, representing Legion Fitness, showed strong durability and composure during several intense exchanges, while Solomon’s measured striking accuracy and tactical discipline gradually allowed him to take control of key moments during the fight.

After three rounds, Solomon secured the judges’ decision victory following what many fans viewed as a highly competitive and technically entertaining performance.

The result further strengthens Solomon’s growing reputation within regional MMA circles while also drawing attention to the increasing depth of amateur talent emerging from Cape Town gyms and fight academies.

The city’s mixed martial arts scene has expanded steadily over recent years as local promotions, gyms and grassroots development structures continue producing athletes capable of competing at increasingly high levels.

The latest Barebones MMA Championships again highlighted how rapidly combat sports are developing within the Western Cape, with several local fighters now beginning to attract wider interest as they move closer toward potential professional careers.
